The service experience at Schewels was exceptional for us. Christmas shopping (somewhat last minute) for a dishwasher, we called after 6:00 and arrived. Pushing closing time and apologizing for coming in so late, they were all welcoming and didn't make us feel like an inconvenience. We picked out, paid, and the guys helped load it up all before closing time at 7:00. That is some quality service. It might also be a world record for quickest dishwasher purchase in history. The dishwasher has been working great! My father has been a long time customer of local Schewels and we have never had a bad experience.

The people are nice enough, but they can't seem to get my order straight. the couch arrived ripped. it took several months to get a replacement, but they ordered the wrong side (it was the chaise that was ripped). so they are reordering and hopefully third time is a charm!

I secretly shopped prior to my purchase. When I entered the store for the first time there was one sales person on the floor who ignored me.
I looked around the store on my own for the specific items I was looking for. A dining set, a Lazy Boy recliner, and a TV console. I took notes, pictures and when I looked for help there was no one around. I left empty handed.
A few days later I called the store to ask questions about a dining set I was interested in. When I was describing the item the sales person told me they did not have anything matching that description. Uggh...
A week later I returned to the store to purchase not the dining set, (since obviously what I saw in the store was just a figment of my imagination. I purchased a dining set at another store. Thank you Regency Furniture of Frederick for your superb interest in my purchase and your enthusiasm to accommodate me. They had no problem, turning on lights or moving furniture around the store so that I could make my decision) but a Lazy Boy recliner.
There was a salesperson outside, in front of the store, on her phone and smoking a cigarette (yuck she reaked of cigarette smell) and a greater.
When I walked in the store, the greater promptly informed me that she was not available to help me because they take turns, and guess whos turn it was? Elizabeth, the person smoking the cigarette.
I helped myself and went to the section where the recliners were, since that was my interest of purchase, it was extremely dark, pitch black, no lights.
When Elizabeth, the salesperson smoking the cigarette, finally met up with me, I asked if they had a black leather, Lazy Boy recliner, she said, "no" I asked, if one could be ordered, she said, "no". I asked if she could turn a light on so that I could see the available colors in the recliners they did have on display, she said, "no". I ask if she could move a specific chair into another section of the store where there is light so that I could see the shade of blue offered, she said, "no". Finally, I used the flashlight on my phone to try and see the colors offered on the showroom floor.
I specifically said, more than one time. "It doesn't seem like you want to make a sale here".
The salesperson was unfazed by my comment.
In the end, I did blindly purchase the Lazy Boy recliner. The checkout process was easy and delivery was quick, but didn't offer any accommodations for timing.
I would not shop here again. The only reason I returned to the store after my first experience and my phone experience was because they are the only store in the area that sold the Lazy Boy product.

Schewels Home Furniture in Martinsburg is excellent. My wife and I walked in, were offered assistance if we had any questions, and were NOT hounded by sales people as we walked the entire store. The selections were great! We did have questions and were assisted by qualified, knowledgeable, friendly individuals. We bought there and were happy with the entire process!
