Top Mattress Stores in Vincennes

Here are the five stores worth visiting in and around Vincennes. Each one has something different going for it, so read through before you head out.

Mark's Mattress Outlet

Mark's Mattress Outlet is about as straightforward as it gets - a store dedicated almost entirely to mattresses, which means the staff actually knows the product. With multiple locations across the region, you have a solid chance of finding a store that's convenient to wherever you are in Knox County.

Their focus on mattress-only retail tends to mean a wider selection of sleep products than you'd find at a general furniture store. Queens start in the budget-friendly range, making this a good first stop if you're working with a tight number in mind.

Delivery Considerations

Delivery in the Vincennes area is generally available through most of these stores, but the details vary more than you'd expect. Before you finalize any purchase, ask specifically about the delivery window - some local stores can get a mattress to you within a day or two, while others work on a weekly schedule depending on staffing and route planning.

Setup service is another thing to ask about upfront. Some stores will carry the mattress to the room of your choice and set it up on your frame, while others drop it at the door and consider the job done. If you're on a second floor or have a tight staircase, confirm this before the truck shows up.

Old mattress haul-away is not guaranteed at every store in Vincennes, so ask directly. Some will take the old mattress at no extra charge, others tack on a fee, and a few don't offer it at all. Check out our mattress buying checklist for a full list of delivery questions to ask before you sign anything.

Delivery fees in this area can run anywhere from free on promotional orders to $50-$100 depending on distance and the store's current policy. Always get that number in writing before your purchase is finalized.

Mattress Buying Guide

If you've never bought a mattress as an adult, or it's just been a long time, the options available today are genuinely different from what you remember. Here's what actually matters when you're standing in a showroom in Vincennes.

Understanding Firmness Levels

Firmness is the most misunderstood part of mattress shopping. Most people assume firmer means better support, and that softer means better comfort. Reality is more specific than that.

Your preferred sleep position matters more than personal preference when it comes to firmness. Side sleepers typically do better on a medium to medium-soft surface because it allows the shoulder and hip to sink in slightly, keeping the spine aligned. Back and stomach sleepers usually need something firmer to prevent the midsection from dropping too far.

Body weight also shifts the equation. A 130-pound person and a 230-pound person lying on the same mattress will feel different levels of firmness because the amount of compression changes. When you're testing mattresses in-store, lie in your actual sleep position for at least five minutes - not just a quick sit on the edge.

Size Selection Strategy

Most people buy the same size mattress they had before without questioning it. That's fine if the old one worked, but if you're in a new space or a new living situation, it's worth starting from scratch on this decision.

A queen is the most popular size in the US and fits most master bedrooms without crowding the room. A king gives you much more sleeping surface, but you'll want at least a 12-foot wide room to have space on both sides of the bed. Our mattress size guide has a room dimension breakdown that makes this easier to figure out before you shop.

Don't forget to measure your bedroom door and any tight corners between the entrance and the bedroom. A king mattress in a box is manageable, but a traditional king delivered flat needs clearance to navigate hallways, especially in older Vincennes homes with narrower interior passages.

Budget Planning

You don't need to spend a fortune to sleep well, but the absolute cheapest mattresses tend to wear out faster and cause the kind of aches that make you regret the savings. In Vincennes, you can find a decent queen in the $400-$800 range from the stores listed here. Step up to $800-$1,500 and the quality gap becomes noticeable.

Factor in the full cost, not just the sticker price. Delivery fees, frame compatibility, and potential haul-away charges can add $100-$200 to the total. Use our mattress cost calculator to build out the real number before you walk into any store.

Sales happen frequently in this category - major holidays, end-of-month pushes, and model-year changeovers all tend to produce real discounts. If your current mattress is functional but not great, waiting a few weeks for a sale is often worth it.
