My wife and I stopped into GW Home in Detroit just to browse, and Johnnie Walker made the experience outstanding. Even though we weren’t necessarily shopping to buy that day, he made us feel genuinely welcomed from the moment we walked in. Johnnie was incredibly knowledgeable about all the products and took the time to answer every question without any pressure. His professionalism and friendly attitude really stood out. We’ll definitely stop in again—highly recommended!

A Five-Star Experience at GW Home
From the moment I walked into GW Home, I knew I was in for something special. The space itself feels like a curated gallery of modern elegance, right across from the ever charming Avalon Bakery, making the visit an experience, not just a shopping trip.
I had the pleasure of working with Michele, the store manager, and Logan, both of whom were beyond gracious and genuinely invested in creating an exceptional experience. Michele’s eye for design is unmatched, not surprising as she once owned the iconic NORA in Midtown Detroit, a store that set the standard for modern living and shared the block with another Detroit gem, Hugh. Talking with her brought back so much nostalgia for that era of elevated design.
Logan, equally wonderful, added a personal touch to the visit when we discovered she grew up near my neighborhood in Mount Clemens. That connection made the experience feel even more personal and warm, like being welcomed into a circle of friends who truly understand your taste and lifestyle.
Both ladies share a passion for mid century modern design, and our conversation about design, architecture, and what inspires us was as enjoyable as the shopping itself. Their knowledge, kindness, and authenticity are what luxury retail should feel like, thoughtful, attentive, and inspiring.
I’m absolutely in love with my Elliot Sofa, and I cannot wait to return in January to add the charcoal grey ottoman once I finish paying off the sofa. I also cannot wait to see when they bring in Herman Miller or Room & Board inspired pieces and new coffee table books. This store is a true gem in Detroit.
If you appreciate design that’s fresh, modern, and timeless, GW Home is a destination worth visiting. Ask for Michele and Logan, you’ll walk out with more than furniture, you’ll leave with inspiration and the promise of a home that truly reflects your style.

This was a pleasurable experience from the showroom to the "white glove" delivery. To start, Johnnie Walker was knowable and upbeat, he made the sales process well paced and simple. He anticipated my needs and was helpful with making my final decisions. Next, my furniture arrived just as expected, beautiful pieces, and delivered by the dynamic duo of Nick and Colin--two courteous and skilled at their job gentlemen. After the placement of my furniture, not a trace of the boxes or packing material was left and it was as if my new furniture was made for this space and had been here all the time. Stop by their gorgeous showroom with the gallery like entrance and get the new GW Home experience!

It’s more than a furniture store — it’s an urban experience that beckons you to come in through the door to explore and be inspired. The selection of furniture and accessories has a high end Crate & Barrel feel but with a “more hip” vibe. The art collection is museum worthy and (surprisingly) affordable for original art by local Detroit artists. And the staff is friendly and helpful - they are polished and professional. There is a unique enthusiasm among the staff that you don’t find in the retail world. I will stop in every time I’m in the area to check out their ever changing collection!!
