Buyer Beware: Our experience with OMI/Lifekind revealed several serious issues with product accuracy, customer service, and post-dispute conduct that customers deserve to be aware of.
We purchased the Lago Nouveau Certified Organic Mattress from OMI/Lifekind on July 29th. The mattress delivered to our home did not match the product advertised on their website. The law tag, stitched branding, material percentages, and certification labels were all inconsistent with the specifications listed for the Lago Nouveau. The mattress cover we received said “OrganicPedic Earth” instead of “OrganicPedic by OMI,” and the tag listed only 85% organic latex foam, which did not match the higher organic content promoted online.
We inspected the mattress immediately upon delivery. Due to the discrepancies and our medical sensitivities, we did not use it beyond a brief test. The mattress remained unused while we attempted to resolve the matter.
The mattress was also undersized. It was advertised as a 10.5-inch profile, but the product delivered measured roughly 8.5 inches in height and approximately one inch short in length. When we contacted the company for assistance, customer service advised us to “stand on the corners of the mattress” to stretch it out. This instruction was unprofessional and not a credible solution for a premium organic mattress.
Multiple attempts to resolve the issue directly with the company went unanswered. Phone calls did not connect to a representative, and email responses were significantly delayed. It wasn’t until we filed a dispute with our bank that any meaningful progress occurred. After reviewing the evidence, USAA determined the product was misrepresented and issued a permanent refund on November 11th (Veterans Day).
Although the refund was final and the chargeback was closed, OMI/Lifekind contacted us and threatened to send our account to collections unless we arranged a return within 10 days. They later hired a third-party disposal service (LoadUp) to pick up the mattress. The crew confirmed that they were instructed to discard the mattress as bulk waste, not recover it for inspection or reuse, which directly contradicts the company’s public claims about sustainability and responsible manufacturing.
This review is being shared to help other consumers, especially veterans and medically sensitive individuals, make an informed decision before purchasing from this company. We received a product that did not match the advertised specifications, encountered poor communication, and experienced concerning follow-up conduct even after our bank resolved the case.

Don't buy from them, it seems it is a different company now than it used to be.
In the past they made great mattresses but unfortunately not any more. When we ordered they promised to rush it so we could have it 4 weeks later. It took a good 3 months! In the meanwhile we were promised a discount if we wouldn't cancel during the process. That discount was never issued. The mattress we received now is totally different to the mattress with the same name we had bought from them 10 years ago, not as comfortable by far! Just another mattress. And threats are coming apart. Although we notified them upon receipt there has not been a response to the pictures we sent. No refund was issued. I honestly regret ever having dealt with them. Please don't make the same mistake!

Our $9,000 mattress has a defect, one side became completely uncomfortable after 3 years of use despite us purchasing a $1,500 foundation required to support this product. We contacted the company, they asked us to send them pictures for evaluation. The defect is not visible on the pictures, but the mattress in unusable and causing a back pain. It is impossible to sleep on it. What a horrible customer service for such an expensive product. Reading other reviews, now I understand that most probably this product is not made to last more than a couple of years. Do yourself a favor and spend your money with the company which will at least stand behind the quality of their product.

We’ve had our mattress for 4 years. Our mattress had to be replaced once. Now we are being told our warranty would only cover one mattress replacement. And, we need to pay $759 to fix it. You’re claiming this doesn’t happen often, but why has it happened twice to us in four years. We have the appropriate support and don’t allow our kids to jump on it. It’s so uncomfortable that we often sleep with our kids in their twin sized beds.

I have been an organic mattress purchaser for years and never regretted it! The quality of materials and workmanship has never disappointed. I am grateful to sleep like a baby on such healthy comfy materials!
This company not only manufactures, but stands behind their products. I bought a rubber mattress topper of theirs through a store in Nevada City and mistakenly washed the zippered cover after some yrs, thinking 1-it was zippered to be removed 2-not seeing wash instructions nor a warning not to do so on the label. When it shrunk in a cold water wash/air dry to the point I could no longer get it on, I contacted OMI and they very kindly replaced it for me. I was thrilled and heartened by their customer service.
