Ivan Smith Furniture

I’m in customer service and sales, so I know what good service is, and it all begins with a good first impression. A warm welcome and a smile is very important. This was not the case, and a good experience was on the fence. We are new to the Athens community, and had been moving into our new home all day, before our arrival. Honestly, we chose this retailer because it was the closest store available. Im sure our appearance, as we walked in, did not say “we have money and ready to buy”. Can you imagine the salespersons facial expression when we told her, “we only need a box springs, maybe two, today”. She asked with a tone of dread, “what size”? I replied, “not sure, could we see the 5” and 9” sizes”? With a slight condescending tone, she replied “we don’t have any to show you”…as she pointed around the store “as you can see”. (My thought…well, I see a lot of beds on display, and you have none to show me? Is this lady being intentionally rude”? So, with best guess, “let’s do the 5”. She walked off without explanation (appearance was surely an effort to get the cashier notified to ring that up). We then walked around and actually found box springs on display beds and I was glad that I said 5”. Then after some time, we were given direction to go to the cashier. Well, the cashier was friendly as he told me the price. My wife and I only bought one, since our initial service experience was already disappointing. When loading the box springs, there was a damaged one being loaded onto our trailer. I had to tell the guy “don’t you see that large tear”? Really? So another one got loaded. I should have looked it over, because we bring it home to find two more tears along the seams and a hole in that one too. Quality was disappointing. If we didn’t have company coming in, we would have returned it.

Tina Rose was very knowledgeable. She was friendly, eager to help and took the time to listen to me and answer my questions! I’m so excited about my purchase and cannot wait for it to be delivered!! UPDATE: it’s here! The delivery guys were great!! They were friendly and quick with the set up! While shopping in the store, in my mind-my living room was bigger…hence the chair and half being put in my grandkids playroom. It fit perfectly under the bed, and now they have a place to be comfortable while watching their TV! THANK YOU IVAN SMITH FURNITURE!

Great experience from purchase to delivery. Tina is always very helpful. Love my new Speed Queen Washer. The delivery guys were very polite and hooked everything up for me.

The people in the store in Athens were most helpful and friendly. Our sales person Carlos worked with us to get us what we wanted. The delivery guys Ben and his helper were both polite and respectful of our home . Both deserve a 5 . Thank You guys for all your help , we love our new couch and chaise

Kanon & the other gentleman that came did a great job! We were their 11th delivery of the day & you wouldn’t have even known. They did everything so efficiently! We sure do appreciate how well they did.
