Talsma Furniture

Talsma Furniture is a good place to shop for furniture. They have a nice display room with many options. Be sure to ask about how inclusive the posted prices are, since most of the furniture is custom made. This custom work means you typically wait a couple of months until delivery. They can have some good deals, especially on clearance items. Delivery is handled well. We purchased a couch for our basement and it didn’t fit down the stairs. They partially disassembled the couch to get it down the stairs and reassembled it and it has served us well.

We have been repeat Talsma customers before. I’d say we have shopped Talsma for 30 to 35 years. Our salesperson Kathy was a wonderful person to work with in helping us with colors, style and comfort in replacing our current living room furniture that we bought from Talsma on 84th Street over 20 years ago. Kathy offered suggestions, inquired about our styles, etc. Kathy had a very calming a perspective on different type of furniture too. We took some samples home for about 5 or 6 days to see how the color of leather, fabric, alternate colors would work in our great room/living room on the wide variety of light this time of year provides in Michigan. We eventually decided on a leather Smith Brothers sofa (92” long) and ottoman (with storage for our grandchildren’s toys) coupled with motorized Flexsteel chairs. My wife got her fabric chair while I continued my leather chair. We were pleasantly surprised that Smith Brothers had different colors of stained legs on their sofas and casters for the ottoman. Lastly, Talsma offered a military discount which they waived the delivery and setup fee. Now for the wait of 8 weeks or so to deliver our furniture! Thank you Kathy!

We were immediately acknowledged when we went in the store and brought to the area of reclining furniture as requested. Ellie wS very knowledgeable about the pieces we looked at and priced out all of our choices in both manual and power. The order is in and we’re currently awaiting the arrival of a new sofa and loveseat.

Jacquelyn Fournier was so good to work with. She was knowledgeable, helpful with ideas, relaxing to be with and would definitely recommend her to others. Looking forward to seeing the new sofa and pillows as a finished product. Would also recommend Talsma for one’s home furnishings. Susan M.

I purchased a sectional sofa set from Talsma Furniture and paid extra for an extended warranty. After only 2 years, the sofa frame broke, even though I do not have small children and the sofa was used normally. When I contacted Talsma, I was told the frame was not covered under the warranty, which makes the extended warranty feel useless. I also bought a dining table, which has been shaking since the day I bought it. The table is rarely used, not for daily meals. They came multiple times and only tightened the screws, but the problem was never fixed. When I called again, I was told they cannot do anything more. Customer service is extremely frustrating. They tell you to call service, but service does nothing, is very hard to reach, and never returns calls or voicemails. I am not satisfied with any product I purchased from this store. Poor quality furniture and no real support when problems happen. I strongly recommend staying away from Talsma Furniture. Do not waste your money.
