Holder Mattress Company, Inc.

I purchased a mattress from the Holder store in Carmel on January 19th. In fact, I purchased their top of the line mattress, that cost over $5000. The mattress was delivered on February 19th. On my first night of sleeping on the mattress, I immediately noticed it felt nothing like the mattress I tried out in the store. My mattress was stiff and hard. Even after one night, I started to have back pain when I woke up. That back pain has continued each night I have slept on this mattress. I am writing this review because of Holder's lack of an acceptable policy for helping unhappy customers. Don't get caught up in Holder's folksy story about a local company that custom makes a mattress personally for you. This is actually a business model that protects Holder from having to take any product back when the customer is unsatisfied. They offer no refunds, only an exchange policy for a 10% fee, with no refund if you select a mattress of lesser value. I actually reached out to Holder, they said I could exchange my mattress for a $500 fee and since I bought the most expensive mattress, any mattress that I would choose, would be for less money, but I would get no refund. I realize that there are several reviews where the customer is happy. I am pleased for them, but I am speaking to the customer that for what every reason, you are not happy with your purchase. You have no recourse with Holder! I would encourage anyone considering a mattress purchase you go through a major retailer that stands behind their product, usually 100 nights, if you're not happy, you get your money back, or at least an exchange, where they would refund any difference in cost. I hope you'll avoid my $5000 mistake. Carl L.

Just had my son's new bed and mattress delivered today by Johnny and Jeremy. It was an awesome experence from ordering it with Lauren with all her knowlefge and friendliness to Johnny and Jeremy taking away the awkward bed frame and old mattress. My son is going to love his new bigger bed and all the comfort than comes with a Holder Mattress!! Loved the attitude Johnny and Jeremy had during the set up of the new bed and even the singing. LOL

Couldn't be a better product or experience! On product, it was really important to me to find a custom-sized crib-mattress manufacturer that took seriously US CPSC standards on crib-mattress firmness. Holder has educational materials on their website on this subject and knew more about this subject than anyone else in the US. Thrilled with the final product, which is high-quality and deftly crafted and made exactly to the custom measurements. Also, this customer experience was actually delightful! Christy was exceedingly patient with a slow ordering process on my end, responsive and helpful in answering many questions, and solutions-oriented when the shipper created a last-minute hurdle to shipping the mattress. Was lovely to work with Holder on the order!

We have had our Registry mattress for15+ years and it still looks brand new. Being able to flip the two-sided mattress is such an obvious feature that all mattresses should have.

We're very happy with our new Holder Mattress and learned a lot about how to find the right fit and to best maintain them while testing them out in the store at the Indiana Design Center (thanks, Jeff!). I'm additionally pleased to buy a mattress that's made in Indiana!
