I rarely leave negative reviews, but my experience with Sleep Outfitters has been one of the most frustrating online purchases I've ever made.
On July 4, 2026, I attempted to purchase a Tempur-Pedic TEMPUR-ProAdapt Medium Hybrid Twin XL mattress through their website. After submitting my payment, I received an error message stating:
"There was an issue processing your payment. Try again or use a different payment method."
Following the website's instructions, I tried again. The exact same error appeared.
I assumed there was a problem with my credit card, so I contacted my bank. To my surprise, Investec Bank confirmed that both transactions had actually been successfully authorized, and they even provided two separate authorization letters, each with a unique authorization code for the same amount.
As a result, R71,876.26 (approximately USD $4,300) of my available credit was placed on hold.
I then called Sleep Outfitters four times trying to resolve the issue. Twice I spoke with a representative named Katy, who transferred me to another department. Unfortunately, no one ever answered those transferred calls.
When I finally reached someone, I was told that Sleep Outfitters has absolutely no record of either transaction.
Think about that for a moment.
Their website obtained two successful credit card authorizations, my bank confirmed both transactions in writing, yet Sleep Outfitters cannot find either one in their system.
Whether this is a failure of their website, payment gateway, or payment processor is irrelevant from a customer's perspective. The end result is that more than R71,000 of my available credit has been locked because of a problem originating from their checkout process.
To make matters worse, I had deliberately postponed several purchases so I could take advantage of the Fourth of July sales. Because my funds were tied up due to these duplicate authorizations, I missed those opportunities entirely.
Mistakes happen. What defines a company is how they handle them.
Unfortunately, my experience was:
A checkout system that incorrectly reported my payment had failed.
Instructions to retry the payment, resulting in duplicate authorizations.
Four phone calls with no meaningful resolution.
A company that cannot even locate the transactions their own website initiated.
For a retailer selling premium mattresses, I expected far better.
I sincerely hope Sleep Outfitters resolves this issue, but based on my experience, I cannot recommend purchasing from them until they address the reliability of their payment system and improve their customer support

We purchased a mattress in 2023! I didn’t realize that mattresses were so expensive now days. We apparently for a decent one anyways. We tested so many mattresses out. More-less I felt like Goldilocks . This one was a close as we could get to perfect! My husband isn’t a petite man. He doesn’t skip out on good meals :). Our mattress has began to have a hole wollerd out where he sleeps. So I emailed the company and found out it came with a warranty. After jumping through many of hoops. We found out that our warranty claim was denied. So $6,000 will go down the drain. My husband works hard for our family. I hate to see his money go out the window. Only hope this company would make things right but apparently there values don’t mean anything! So I would highly suggest against purchasing their products. You can find a decent mattress so much cheaper elsewhere. Hopefully Tempur-Pedic will go down in history like everyone else. An their end result will lead to bankruptcy like everyone else. The little man is getting tired of being screwed. Hope the ceo has the nights sleep like he deserves!!!

My mom brought a twin xl from sleep outfitters I told the salesman I was looking to put it on a hospital bed I found one. So I brought my mom back to see and test it out but once the mattress was brought and place on the bed it was to high for the bed and her she only have one and a half legs. Went back to the store with the mattress less then an hour after getting it Greg gives the salesman’s spill but never did he say anything about not refunding only that our company policy is we have to pick it up and place the other one on the bed. What other one? all the mattresses are to high, so this morning I was informed sorry there is no refund company policy according to terms of agreement. I never was informed of any terms until now. That’s not right

I have had 2 faulty mattresses and they're refusing to give me a refund. Don't bother with this place whatsoever, go somewhere else Maybe it's a good thing. They keep closing all the stores Now I tried to respond directly to your post. I contacted guest services. And they said they were unable to do anything per policy. And I ask them to speak to somebody hire. And he said he would email them and somebody would get back to me . still yet nobody has got back to me . I urge you, not. At sleep outfitters ever again

Disgraceful customer service. After having two problems with our mattress that we purchased in Mesa Arizona I decided to write to the corporate office. They didn't care enough to reply in any way. Our mattress was damaged in loading & discovered when I arrived home, and we had to sanitize it, ultimately we replaced the mattress & bases, covers, at a great cost to us. Buyers beware!
