Top Mattress Stores in Metairie

Below you'll find a full profile on each store. We've covered what makes each one worth your time, what to expect on price, and who each store suits best.

Rooms To Go

Rooms To Go on Veterans Memorial Blvd is one of the more familiar names in Metairie, and for good reason. The store carries a solid selection of mattresses alongside bedroom furniture, so if you're setting up a new room from scratch, you can knock it all out in one trip. The staff here tends to know the inventory well and can help you match a mattress to a bed frame without a lot of back and forth.

Queens start around $299 on the lower end, with better innerspring and memory foam options climbing toward the $1,000 to $1,500 range. They carry Serta, Sealy, and a handful of their own branded sets, which often bundle the mattress with a foundation at a decent discount.

Tempur-Pedic Flagship Store

This is the only Tempur-Pedic flagship location in the greater New Orleans area, which makes it worth a visit even if you're not sure you'll buy. The showroom on Veterans Memorial Blvd lets you test the full line of Tempur-Pedic mattresses with actual adjustable bases, so you get a real sense of how the material responds to your body rather than just bouncing on a demo model for 30 seconds.

Prices here are at the higher end. Expect queen mattresses starting around $1,700 and climbing well past $4,000 for top-tier models. They also offer financing options and will often run seasonal promotions, so it's worth asking what's current when you visit. The TEMPUR-Adapt and TEMPUR-ProAdapt lines are popular picks for side sleepers dealing with shoulder or hip discomfort.

Mattress Firm Veterans

Mattress Firm has multiple locations across Metairie, which makes it easy to find one close to wherever you are in the area. The Veterans location in particular draws solid traffic because of its convenient spot near Lakeside Shopping Center. They carry a wide range of brands including Sealy, Stearns and Foster, Purple, and Beautyrest, so if you want to physically compare very different types of mattresses in one visit, this is a good starting point.

Queens can run from around $400 all the way up to $3,000 or more depending on the brand and construction. Mattress Firm frequently runs sales, and their price match policy means you don't have to worry as much about overpaying if you do your homework first. Mattress Direct

Mattress Direct is a Louisiana-based chain, which gives it a local feel that the national brands don't always have. They've built a reputation in the New Orleans metro for competitive pricing and a no-pressure sales approach, which is a refreshing change from some of the bigger box store experiences. The staff tends to be knowledgeable without being pushy, and the store layout makes it easy to browse without someone following you around the floor.

They carry brands like Serta, Sealy, Beautyrest, and their own private label options. Queens start as low as around $250 on the budget end, with mid-range and premium models available in the $800 to $1,800 range. If you're working with a tighter budget but still want a decent mattress, this is one of the first places to check in Metairie.

Comeaux Furniture Appliance and Mattress

Comeaux has been a fixture in Metairie for decades and is the kind of local shop that a lot of longtime residents swear by. Located on Veterans Memorial Blvd, it sells furniture, appliances, and mattresses all under one roof, which makes it a practical stop if you're outfitting a home rather than just replacing one piece. The experience is genuinely different from a chain store. You're talking to people who know the neighborhood and aren't working off a script.

Selection leans toward mid-range mattresses with queens generally running from around $400 to $1,200. They carry dependable brands and can often offer flexible financing for local customers. If you value doing business with a shop that's part of the Metairie community rather than a national chain, Comeaux is worth a visit before you make your final call.

Sleep Number

The Sleep Number store on Veterans Memorial Blvd is the place to go if you and your partner can never agree on how firm a mattress should feel. Sleep Number's adjustable air technology lets each side of the bed be set independently, which sounds like a gimmick until you actually try it. The in-store sleep assessments are genuinely useful and the staff tends to walk you through the different models without the high-pressure sales tactics you might expect.

Pricing starts around $1,100 for a queen on the entry-level c2 model, but most shoppers end up in the $2,000 to $3,500 range once they add in a base and any smart sleep tracking features. The long-term data tracking through the SleepIQ app is a real draw for people who like understanding their sleep patterns. Financing options are available and the store frequently runs promotional deals tied to major holidays.

Delivery Considerations

Delivery in the Metairie area is generally pretty straightforward, but there are a few things worth knowing before you buy. Most stores along Veterans Memorial Blvd offer delivery to zip codes throughout Jefferson Parish, and many will service the broader New Orleans metro including areas closer to the Lake.

Delivery windows vary a lot by store. Mattress Firm and Rooms To Go typically offer scheduling within a week of purchase, sometimes faster if inventory is on hand locally. Smaller operations like Comeaux may have slightly longer lead times depending on what's in stock. Always ask whether setup and old mattress haul-away are included in the delivery fee or billed separately. Some stores charge $50 to $100 for haul-away, while others build it in as a perk.

For second-floor deliveries or tight staircases, which are common in older Metairie homes near areas like Metairie Cemetery, it's smart to mention this when scheduling. Certain oversized mattresses, particularly pillow tops or thick hybrid models, can be harder to maneuver and some delivery crews charge an extra fee for difficult access. Take a quick look at our mattress buying checklist for a handy reminder of what to confirm with the store before delivery day.

Mattress Buying Guide

If you've never bought a mattress before, or if it's been more than 10 years since your last one, the options can feel like a lot. Here's a practical breakdown of what actually matters when you're shopping in Metairie.

Understanding Firmness Levels

Firmness is one of the most misunderstood parts of buying a mattress. Most stores use a scale from 1 to 10, where 1 is cloud-soft and 10 is nearly flat. But that scale is not standardized across brands, so a "medium" at Sleep Number might feel different from a "medium" at Mattress Firm. Always test in person when you can.

Your sleep position matters more than your preference. Side sleepers generally do better with a softer surface (around 3-5 on the scale) to cushion the shoulder and hip. Back sleepers often land in the medium range (5-7), while stomach sleepers usually need something firmer (7-9) to keep the spine from sinking. If you share a bed and have different sleep positions, a dual-zone option like Sleep Number or a mattress with zoned support could save you both a lot of tossing around.

Size Selection Strategy

Metairie bedrooms in older homes can run smaller than you'd expect, especially in ranch-style houses built in the 1960s and 70s. Before you fall in love with a king mattress at Rooms To Go, measure your room. You want at least 24 inches of clearance on the sides and foot of the bed so the space doesn't feel like a storage unit.

A queen is the most practical choice for most adult sleepers who share a bed. It fits comfortably in rooms as small as 10x10 with a little planning. If you have kids or pets who end up in your bed regularly, a king is worth the upgrade if the room can handle it. Use our mattress size guide to map out your space before you walk into a showroom.

Budget Planning

The honest truth is that you don't need to spend $3,000 to sleep well. A quality queen mattress in the $700 to $1,200 range from a reputable brand will outperform a cheap one in a few years every time. The sweet spot for most Metairie shoppers who want durability without overspending is right in that mid-range.

That said, if you have chronic back pain, sleep issues, or you're buying a mattress for a master bedroom you plan to use for 10 or more years, it's worth stretching the budget. Think of it as a per-night cost. A $1,500 mattress used every night for 10 years works out to about 41 cents per night. Use our mattress cost calculator to figure out what actually makes sense for your situation.

Also factor in what else you might need. A new mattress on an old, worn-out box spring or a sagging platform frame won't perform the way it should. Ask each store about foundation compatibility before you leave with just the mattress.
