I decided to research Hästens mattresses when I discovered my health and spine improved whenever I slept on old pocket spring mattresses with little to no foam. Hästens is not a typical mattress store, so I highly recommend making an appointment, even if you just want to learn about their mattresses. We were coming from over 300 miles away and didn’t know what to expect. Fortunately, Helio Lopes answered my call, became our salesman/guide, and helped in making our trip more convenient and relaxed. During our appointment, the store doors were shut to prevent interruption, the lights were lowered, we laid on a mattress, and then listened to Helio. Typically, my husband has no patience for salesmen or their pitches. However, Helio had so much information about the health benefits from the design and materials, that he kept my husband’s attention and piqued his interest. Then we hopped between mattresses to find a style that suit our needs. There was never any pressure to complete a purchase, but Helio did make it possible to be complete a purchase later without returning to the store. We purchased the Eala mattress with medium firmness about 3 months ago. It has greatly improved my spine and quality of life. It was delivered the 300+ miles with white glove service. For a short time, there was a slight fragrance to the mattress similar to an adhesive bandage, but not the obnoxious off gassing of a latex or foam mattress. We had concerns that the horse hair may trigger allergy like symptoms, but our breathing has actually improved. When we had a Purple 4, we would wake with sinus problems and stuffiness. We have rotated, flipped, and massaged the middle and the top mattress as recommended as it settles. The mattress breaths well and does not seem to retain heat. The Hästens mattress cover in quilted cotton and Tencel makes the mattress and our sheets feel softer. Our existing deep pocket sheets fit perfectly over the top and middle mattresses. Typically, my husband and I like opposite firmness levels in mattresses, but our medium Eala works for both of us. With the Eala, we can snuggle and our bodies are supported individually. When we’ve slept on the Purple 4, Tempur Pedic, and Sleep Number mattresses, my smaller body would be sucked into the cavity formed by his larger body, making me crooked and uncomfortable. On our previous mattress, I had trouble getting comfortable, numbing of my extremities, trouble staying asleep, would wake with excessive pain, had stiffness preventing movement, and would be physically miserable for the day. On the Eala, my extremities are no longer becoming numb and immobile while sleeping. I sleep longer and more soundly, I’m more flexible in the morning, my pain is decreasing and becoming manageable, and my posture during the day has improved. Even my husband’s back has improved. But, we have found the Eala is better at relieving spinal alignment and degeneration pain than from pulled muscles. My improvement from sleeping on the Eala has already postponed the need for non-invasive surgical intervention of ablations and/or injections to my spine. Although it may not completely remove the need for invasive surgeries in the future due to stenosis, disc issues, and other degeneration, it has greatly improved my quality of life and given me more time from surgery. Purchasing the Eala was a huge financial gamble we didn’t take lightly, but it was an investment towards the health of our aging spines. I weighed the Hästens mattress expense against the possible total cost of replacing other brand mattresses every 10 years or less, the quality of materials, knowing how much better I felt sleeping on a pocket spring mattress, how much I was willing to spend to possibly avoid invasive spinal surgery, the desire to sleep comfortably next to my husband, the reality that 1/3 of our lives is spent in bed, and that the Hästens mattress could possibly last the rest of our lives. Wish I would’ve discovered them decades ago.

PROFESSIONAL INSTALLATION The mattress arrived in three separate parts, along with five supportive legs (including one in the center for extra stability). Two professional gentlemen took great care during the installation process. They wore gloves to maintain hygiene and protect the pristine condition of the mattress, reflecting the high standards of Hästens. Their polite, kind, and professional demeanor made us truly thankful for selecting this company. QUALITY AND CRAFTSMANSHIP Hästens is renowned for its craftsmanship, using only the finest natural materials such as horsehair, cotton, and wool to create mattresses that provide unmatched comfort and support. The mattress came with a certificate of authenticity, which reassured us of its genuine quality and the brand’s commitment to excellence. View on GoogleMy husband and I traveled all the way from Hawaii and stopped by the Hästens store at the Tyson’s Galleria expecting a premium, welcoming experience. Unfortunately, the service we received was the complete opposite. From the moment we walked in, we felt judged and dismissed. The sales staff didn’t acknowledge us right away, and when they finally engaged, they only directed us to the least expensive mattresses. When I asked about trying other models—especially the Grand Vividus—they showed zero interest in assisting us. I understand it’s a high-end, well-maintained product, but what’s the point of traveling so far if we’re not allowed to fully experience the brand? The two gentlemen of Asian and Caucasian were the salespeople on Saturday at the time. What made it worse was that as soon as another couple walked in, the salesperson literally abandoned us mid-visit to give them full attention. It was clear that they made assumptions about us based on appearance, and it was extremely disappointing. “Don’t judge a book by its cover” couldn’t be more true here. Their attitude was rude, dismissive, and completely unprofessional. I would much rather spend $7k at Costco, where at least the customer service is respectful, than spend thousands with a company whose staff treats people this way. I do not recommend this location.

View on GooglePurchased my Hastens 2000T and received it in August 2024. My sleeping experience prior to this bed was never what I wanted. Having discovered the Hastens bed through search and after reading the owners book, I was determined to know more and decided to purchase. To date, after over 4 months, it gets better each night. My wife and I are extremely satisfied and happy we invested in ourselves to get a good nights sleep. I could go on and rave about all of the qualities of these mattresses but you get the picture. Helio at DC Hastens has been great to deal with. Do yourself a favor and find real, comfortable sleep. Nothing else will ever come close to the craftsmanship and detail.
