Formal Complaint – Defective Product, Misrepresentation, and Warranty Denial
I am filing this complaint against Mattress Firm, specifically the Oakwood Plaza location in Hollywood, Florida, due to a defective mattress, misleading sales practices, and an unreasonable denial of a warranty claim.
On February 28, 2025, I purchased a mattress from this location after clearly informing the sales representative that I was experiencing ongoing back pain caused by a previously purchased Mattress Firm mattress that had become too soft and unsupportive. I relied on the representative’s recommendation and was assured that this replacement mattress would provide proper support and durability.
Within less than eight (8) months, the mattress developed significant sagging and deep body impressions, resulting in renewed and worsening back pain. This is not normal wear and tear. It is a clear indication of premature product failure and poor material quality, especially given the short time frame.
I submitted a warranty claim, and despite the inspection acknowledging visible impressions, Mattress Firm denied coverage, stating that the measurements “meet manufacturer standards” and are considered “normal body impressions.” This explanation is unreasonable and unacceptable. I am a 5’4” female weighing under 155 pounds. It is implausible that normal use by someone of my size would cause such deterioration in under a year unless the product itself is defective.
Additionally, I am still making payments on this mattress and am now being told I must incur additional expenses to replace a product that has already failed. This places an unfair financial burden on the consumer and renders the warranty protections effectively meaningless.
Mattress Firm’s warranty process appears designed to discourage valid claims and shift responsibility away from the manufacturer and retailer, despite clear evidence of early failure. The product did not perform as represented at the time of sale and does not meet reasonable consumer expectations for durability or support at this price point.
I am requesting appropriate resolution, which may include replacement, refund, or other corrective action. If this matter is not resolved promptly, I will continue escalating this complaint through all available consumer protection channels.
This experience has been deeply disappointing, financially stressful, and unacceptable.

Robert is great. He made it very easy, was very helpful and patient throughout. There were plenty of good options to choose from, at prices within my budget whether on sale or not. Definitely recommend.
