I came to this business with a 20ft trailer and cash looking to purchase new furniture for 2 living rooms. We found 2 couches, a love seat and a recliner (2 DIFFERENT sets, but same colors, sitting on the sales floor right next to each other). The salesman was attentive and quickly helped us. He pointed out they weren't matching sets, we acknowledged we knew this but the color was the same and we wanted the 4 pieces sitting in front of us. He then offered to go upstairs and get a "out the door" number for 2 DIFFERENT sets (4 pieces total), he takes pictures of model numbers of all 4 pieces and goes upstairs. He came back downstairs, said he talked to the owner and they could do $6200 for everything, out the door. I said I wanted to give it some thought and look at a few other places, but l'd probably be back in a few to get them as I was looking to buy that day. I come back 2 hours later and asked if they could do $6000 for everything we spoke about. The salesmen contacts the owner to ask, sends model numbers etc of said pieces (AGAIN). After their conversation the salesman informs me that apparently there was confusion and they thought I wanted 2 of the same set, and if I wanted the two DIFFERENT sets (that we literally pointed at and had a conversation about) the price would be $6700. There was no offer to honor orginal qouted price, so i bit my tongue, declined and left. I feel like this was a sick negotiation tactic to try and get me to pay more, like my offer of $200 less on 4 pieces was a insult? They simply could of said no we can’t do that. This isn't good business practice, do better small business owners.. I intentionally tried to shop small business vs going to a big box store simply to be let down. Outside of that the staff was friendly…

Penland's is an excellent furniture store with great quality options. They are very helpful. My wife and I love to go look at their recliners and then have Penland's order a recliner with the style and options we want. Their prices are very competitive and you get better quality and service than the big box stores.

MEGAN!!!! We’ve been dealing with Penland’s Furniture since we moved to Asheville 20 years ago. In the past we always dealt with store owner, Zach. He has always been helpful and courteous. On our recommendation, friends and family have bought mattresses and living room suites and have also been extremely pleased with their purchases. Today we had the good fortune to work with Megan. She was personable and knowledgeable and by no means were you ever made to feel as if she didn’t have time to answer your questions, and we had plenty. Picking mattresses and the chairs you use daily is time consuming and by no means inexpensive, so you don’t want to rush in to your decision making. She worked with us until we found what we thought would work best. It was also nice to see Zach again after all these years! If you are in the market for furniture, Penland’s is your one-stop shopping experience. They have access to anything you might want!

BUYER BEWARE. NO RETURNS. NO REFUNDS. Purchased a recliner for my father at Penland Furniture on May 8th. On July 9th I called to inquire about it. They said it would be 4-6 weeks for delivery. It was 9 weeks later when I called and they said it had just been delivered to the store. Arranged for delivery on July 12th. On July 15th my dad called to say he hated it. Doesn’t recline properly. The material is very hot and it isn’t meeting his expectations. I called the store on July 16th and they would not provide any resolution. No returns. No refunds. No exceptions. We won’t be shopping at this locally owned store again due to a lack of customer service.

I had a great experience at Pendland’s Furniture in Marion! Zach and Holly were both incredibly helpful throughout the entire process. They took the time to answer all of my questions, made great recommendations, and made everything feel easy and stress-free. On top of that, they offer free delivery to my area, which was a huge bonus. The whole experience from start to finish was smooth and professional. I highly recommend Pendland’s and definitely suggest asking for Zach or Holly if you stop in!
