Star Furniture - San Antonio

Really appreciated the fantastic service, once again from Star Furniture personnel. We came in to look for a rug a bit later in a Saturday evening and Ivan was fantastic. He really took the time to show us rugs, look at pictures and make sure it would match the other elements in our house. I appreciated his expertise. He was very knowledgeable about rugs and did give us a good price. (We had a similar experience with concierge service when we were buying bar stools last year and absolutely love them.) I must say that the people with whom we have had the pleasure to work with at Star are experts in their area, have a great knack for design and are super helpful and friendly. We have found the pieces we have bought from Star to be of high quality.

Walked into Star Furniture yesterday and had a very disappointing experience. It felt either like a bait-and-switch tactic or a poorly executed foot-in-the-door sales approach. We ended up turning around and leaving rather than arguing over the price or trying to negotiate for the amount the furniture was marked at. The store was completely empty, with employees standing around. The first person who approached us introduced himself as the manager (I believe his name was Frank, and his name tag said “Manager”). Unfortunately, he came across more like a new salesperson trying to figure things out than an experienced manager who knew the products, pricing, and how to handle customer concerns. We found a furniture set we liked. The three pieces we wanted were clearly marked at approximately $5,300. When we asked for an out-the-door price, Frank disappeared and came back multiple times, each time with a different explanation. After several trips back and forth, he told us the furniture had been marked incorrectly and that the actual price was around $7,500. Rather than simply acknowledging a pricing mistake and trying to work with us, we got a long sales pitch about how we had walked in during “the best sale in the history of the store” and how the furniture was already 25% off. The whole interaction felt more like a car dealership sales tactic than a straightforward furniture purchase. If he truly was the manager, I would have expected a more professional approach and at least some effort to honor the advertised price or find a reasonable solution. Instead, it felt like our time was wasted. At that point, we lost confidence in the store’s pricing altogether and decided to leave rather than spend more time looking at other furniture and wondering whether the prices were accurate. To make matters worse, we took photos of the furniture because we liked the color and wanted to compare it at home, and those photos clearly show the lower advertised price. The piece itself was only partially genuine leather, with the remainder being a leather-match material, making the price discrepancy even harder to understand. I would also recommend avoiding working with Frank. Based on our experience, instead of honoring the advertised price or making a reasonable effort to resolve the issue, he seemed more focused on selling the furniture at the higher price. Whether it was due to commission, sales goals, or store policy, the result was the same: the advertised price wasn’t honored, and the customer was left frustrated. We didn’t spend much more time in the store after that, but from what we saw, there are plenty of other furniture stores in the area where you can find better quality furniture, better pricing, and a more straightforward buying experience. We chose to take our business elsewhere rather than continue dealing with pricing discrepancies and sales tactics. Overall, a frustrating experience and a poor first impression. We left without making a purchase and would not recommend the store based on our experience. If the furniture is marked at one price, customers should not have to find out after the fact that it actually costs thousands more. That’s a quick way to lose trust and send customers straight to a competitor.

We called the San Antonio store this afternoon after looking through Star’s website. We wanted to see two sofa choices and Mark to our call. 30 min later we were walking through the store having picked the perfect sofa, but actually furnishing three more brooms. The sale is great and the clearance items were a steal. Mark is a designer and knows every inch of the store and secured a fast delivery with the help of his wonderful operation team support. Even the other Mark that moved pieces of furniture around for us to color and style match. Everyone even Ivan with the expertise on rugs. Mark will be on our speed dial as we continue to update our furnishings. We have been a customer of Star for over 30 years. We don't need to look anywhere else.

Outstanding service and able to deliver same week! Kim was incredibly helpful and made the entire process easy. She was friendly, knowledgeable, and went above and beyond to help me find the perfect bedroom set. Excellent customer service—I highly recommend asking for Kim!

We went to several furniture stores in the area. We came back to Star furniture to purchase a gorgeous sofa and loveseat set that was on closeout. The sales team was wonderful, especially Kim, who answered all of our questions very professionally and friendly. They offer to store the furniture until we have the flooring in place, which will be about 3 weeks. I will certainly purchase from Star furniture again. Very pleasant experience.
