Avocado Green Mattress - Natural & Organic Mattresses - New York City

This Avocado showroom is amazing, and the staff are wonderful. We worked with Amorion, who patiently helped us understand the differences between the mattress options. After trying them in person, my wife and I decided on the Queen Box-Top Plush. Everyone has different preferences when it comes to mattresses, so spending time at the showroom and testing them out really helps with making the right decision. Since it was a custom order, we were told delivery would take about three weeks—and reminder that it arrived right on time. We’ve now been sleeping on the mattress for 2–3 weeks, and it has been an excellent sleeping experience. The quality of sleep has truly improved our daily lives. My back pain disappeared on the first week. Going to bed now gives me a genuinely happy feeling.) I am highly recommending this model for especially the side sleepers. Top of Top!

Olympia needs additional training, particularly in customer service. She had a very dismissive attitude during my visit and was racially biased. She asked me to move off the mattress I was trying so she could assist another customer who had just walked in. I was kind enough to move, but she did not offer me another mattress to try or say “sorry for the inconvenience” or “thank you” for moving. The other mattress I wanted to try was also occupied, but she did not ask that customer to move. She just ignored me while I stood there awkwardly waiting and continued assisting the other white/Asian customers. The experience made me feel uncomfortable and singled out. It honestly felt like a microaggression — similar to when Black people were made to give up their seats on the bus if a white person wanted to sit down. To make it worse, no one came back to follow up or see how I was doing. I guess it was too close to closing time for them to care. I felt uncomfortable there as a Black person, and I definitely received the least attention of all the potential customers in the store. The mattresses are okay, but after that incident, I immediately decided against this brand and bought a Purple mattress, which I like better. Plus, the people at the store where I bought the Purple mattress (as well as Saatva and all the other mattress stores I tried besides this one) treated me as an equal. I won’t spend money on this brand — and certainly not during Black History Month. Not inclusive, just discriminatory!

Jeanine was incredibly helpful to me with my Eco Mattress purchase, helping me make my dream of having an organic, sustainable, chemical-free mattress a reality! I know it will be amazing, as was Jeanine with her kindness and support today. I am excited to drag my current toxic mattress to the curb, and thankful to Avocado and Jeanine for saving sleep, and the earth.

Excellent! Highly recommend Avocado Green Mattresses. Not only are the mattresses of the highest quality & very well priced, I will definitely sleep better knowing my new mattress is 100% eco friendly. Also the in-store sales staff are attentive & thorough. Hope at 135 5th Ave was so helpful & organized, I left knowing I'm made the right decision to buy my new mattress at Avocado.
